Company Overview

Today’s consumer is focused more than ever on food safety. They are concerned about the potential harmful effects pesticides can have on human and animal health, as well as to the environment. “Sustainable”, “Organic”, and “Environmentally-friendly” are labels that have become top-of-mind when buying the food a family puts on their table. External pressures, in addition to a grower’s desire to protect their land and the quality of the food they produce, are driving their need to farm in a more environmentally responsible manner.  They are looking for proven, effective, alternatives to traditional chemistry that can control pests, enhance the health of their crops and maximize yields. Historically, biobased pesticides have been perceived as ineffective and costly.  Today, this is changing. Introducing smart, natural solutions by Marrone Bio Innovations – answering the grower’s need for effective, sustainable production without sacrificing profitability.

Highlights of Marrone Bio Innovations’ Celebration and Ribbon Cutting at New Marrone Michigan Manufacturing Facility

video Ribbon Cutting

On July 2, 2014 Marrone Bio Innovations, Inc., a leading global provider of bio-based pest management and plant health products, celebrated the official opening of its Marrone Michigan Manufacturing (M3) facility in Bangor, Michigan with a ribbon cutting ceremony and plant tours.

The M3 facility is a wholly-owned subsidiary of MBI. Acquired in July 2012, the original site included an existing building of 11,400 square feet and 12 acres of land. It contained the infrastructure needed for planned manufacturing processes and provided ready access to transportation services while being ideally located in an area with a highly skilled, educated workforce for filling needed technical, operational and management positions. The first phase of construction at the M3 plant enlarged the facility’s size by 6,600 square feet, adding fermentation capacity.

Regalia Biofungicide Mode of Action

video Mode of Action

REGALIA biofungicides have a unique and complex mode of action, referred to as Induced Systemic Resistance (ISR), and are the only products with a FRAC code of P5. ISR creates a defense response in the treated plants and stimulates additional biochemical pathways that strengthen the plant structure and act against the pathogen.

When applied to crops, REGALIA products activate ISR and induce the plants to produce specialized proteins and other compounds which inhibit fungal and bacterial diseases and also improve plant health and vigor.

Invasive Zebra Mussel Ingesting Zequanox

video zequanox

This video demonstrates how invasive mussels perceive Zequanox (by Marrone Bio Innovations) as a nonthreatening food source and readily consume the biological control product.

Derived from a naturally occurring microbe (Pseudomonas fluorescens), Zequanox is highly selective and has been proven to be lethal to zebra and quagga mussels, without harming humans, infrastructure, non-target species, or the environment. Zequanox is composed of dead cells that destroy the mussel’s digestive system within days on consumption.

Zequanox is proven effective in a broad range of water conditions and temperatures, and it can be used to control mussels at all stages of maturity—from veliger to adult.
